I’m an olah and community worker residing in Jerusalem. Culture shock? What’s that? My passion for God, along with a professional background in legal, civic, and interfaith affairs, prepared me for a natural transition to life in Israel.
My focus in life is to help meet individual needs by encouraging creative self-sufficiency as well as advocacy. While I believe that less government is better government, the political process is as fascinating to me as current affairs are relevant. I view matters in light of history and my Jewish faith, and consider social questions in terms of what is just and what works rather than what is popular. This makes for lively discussion and interesting bedfellows indeed!
For relaxation, I value times spent with close friends and appreciate music festivals (have tambourine, will travel). Designing personalized food and gift baskets is fun, and sharing in the joy of the local poor and travelers who receive them is uplifting to me.
In Hebrew, the name Meira means “one who illuminates.” It’s a privilege for me to share my thoughts and, of course, my right to offer opinion. Meira Online is an area for reflection and sharing on any topic I find meaningful, and as a freethinker, I just might surprise you. If you don’t like surprises, then answers to your polite questions are an email away.
